President Trump estimated that he’s lost billions of dollars while in the White House but said it’s been worth it because of what he’s done for the country.
“I’ll bet you I’ve lost billions of dollars. It cost me billions, I said to one of my friends, a very wealthy friend, I bet it cost me $2 or $3 billion, it is worth every penny of it,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” in an interview on Thursday.
But Trump, whose finances have come under scrutiny and who is being investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller, said he doesn’t need the money.
“It is worth every penny because I’m doing so much for the country. I mean what I’ve done in terms of costs, what I’ve done in terms of the military. We’re rebuilding the military, very shortly we’re gonna have the strongest military we’ve ever had,” he said.
Forbes earlier this month said Trump fell 138 spots on its list of the richest people in the US since he kicked off his presidential campaign in June 2015 and his net worth over that time plummeted by about $1.4 billion.
