President Donald Trump on Thursday repeatedly attacked special counsel Robert Mueller by name — showing how Trump has fully dropped his past restraint in not singling out the man whose sprawling Russia investigation could threaten his presidency.
“When is Bob Mueller going to list his Conflicts of Interest? Why has it taken so long? Will they be listed at the top of his $22,000,000 Report…And what about the 13 Angry Democrats, will they list their conflicts with Crooked H? How many people will be sent to jail and……“ Trump tweeted.
“….persecuted on old and/or totally unrelated charges (there was no collusion and there was no obstruction of the no collusion)…And what is going on in the FBI & DOJ with Crooked Hillary, the DNC and all of the lies? A disgraceful situation!“ he followed in a second tweet.
The president didn’t expand on his comment about what he called Mueller’s conflicts of interest, and he again falsely presented the probe as being run by Democrats. While some members of Mueller’s team have donated to Democratic candidates, Mueller himself is a registered Republican.
Trump also claimed on Thursday that the origin of the Russia probe is tainted, and he lashed out at FBI agent Peter Strzok, who exchanged anti-Trump text messages in 2016 with FBI attorney Lisa Page, and at former FBI Director James Comey, claiming that Comey and Mueller are “best friends.”
