A humble FiDi coffee shop has concocted a plan to moonlight as a cocktail joint.
Hole in the Wall, an 800-square-foot, 40-seat venue for caffeine addicts at 15 Cliff Street, this week will begin closing at 5 pm in order to transform itself into “Sugar Momma” for the evening booze crowd.
“I wanted to create a new experience to take our customers from coffees in the morning to espresso martinis at night,” said Australian owner Barry Dry.
Sugar Momma launches March 15. It will be open Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 pm until midnight.
The menu, from executive chef Brent Hudson, includes small plates like crispy pork with soy caramel, sour apple, cashews and pickled herbs to East Coast oysters along with larger dishes like a signature Truffle Beef and ‘Shroom burger with bacon, caramelized onions, house pickles and special sauce to a grass-fed Wagyu rib eye, a satay curry chicken and ‘roll your own’ brisket tacos.
Mixologist Ryan Byrnes will introduce signature cocktails like Momma’s Martini, with vodka, passion fruit, raspberries and prosecco; and Smoke’n with Mezcal, with grapefruit syrup, lime, simple syrup, hot sauce and soda.
