A superhero army hit the stage Saturday at D23 Expo for Avengers: Infinity War.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), among other super-luminaries, took the fan convention stage along with archvillain Thanos (Josh Brolin) for Avengers: Infinity War.
But even with its bounty of superpower, flown in specially from the Avengers set, where filming is still in progress, Marvel’s biggest weapon was its explosive first-look footage for the superhero epic hitting screens May 4, 2018.
The footage unveiling was the stunning culmination of the Disney live-action presentation, which left the crowd standing on its feet giving applause that rivaled Thor in its thunder.
“Almost every single superhero we have ever introduced is going to be in the film,” Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, said from the stage. “This is by far the biggest production in the history of Marvel Studios.”
Feige brought out the cast, starting with Brolin, who continued his Thanos villainous trash-talking as the rest of the heroes took the stage.
With the final introduction of Iron Man (Downey), the scale was so impressive that there had to be a class picture.
Even Downey, who kicked the superhero movie phenom into warp drive with 2008’s Iron Man, had to take stock of the sight.
