Another day, another delay for a hotly anticipated Apple product.
On Friday, the Cupertino, Calif., company said that its flagship home speaker is no longer on track to hit stores in time for the holiday season.
Instead, Apple expects to begin shipping the HomePod in early 2018.
“We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod,” the tech titan said in a statement, “but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers.”
The HomePod, expected to be priced at $349, was originally supposed to come out in December, and is being marketed as a high-end smart speaker.
Its high-quality sound is designed to take on competitors like Sonos, while its built-in Siri functionality pits it against smart speakers from Amazon and Google.
